- The obverse features a lively snake with its body shaped into the symbol ∞ (number 8).
- On the rim are flowers of the four seasons in Hong Kong — Cotton Tree (spring), Lotus (summer), Hibiscus (autumn) and Hong Kong Camellia (winter).
- These all together denote the blessings of good luck, prosperity and happiness all year round!
- The words “YEAR OF THE SNAKE” in both English and Chinese are inscribed on the top.
- The year “2025” at the bottom is flanked by auspicious motifs of ruyi symbolising the wish of everything goes well, and the symbols for luck, success, longevity and wealth.
Reverse: Prosperous View of Victoria Harbour Denotes a Flourishing Pearl of the Orient
- It features the Hong Kong Victoria Harbour with the skyscrapers and landmarks on both sides of the bank, demonstrating the robust vigour of the city as the “Pearl of the Orient”.
- Above the skyline is a blooming Bauhinia, the city’s floral emblem, symbolising Hong Kong’s blooming prospect.
- The outer ring features a pair of plump ears of grains to denote opulence, with the inscription “Hong Kong Special Administrative Region” in English and Chinese.
